Tonight’s Event

Usually when we meet it is to hear people talk about specific issues in social media. Tonight’s meeting is a little different – the idea is for all of us to work together to CREATE social media. While ostensibly a planning meeting (we’ll be talking about the project AND about future events), it is open to all who would like to get involved with what should be a very fun project.
The Project:
SoMe Election 08 – using social media channels (blogs, microblogs, podcasts, video and photographs) we will be documenting the general election here in Boston. Rather than writing about content or content creation we’ll be doing it for real and together. All that we create or collect will be housed on a wiki or a ning site (the details will be discussed and determined tonight). Most of the meeting will be spent on the tracks and types of content we want to capture, the tone, etc.
We’ll have people responsible for each track area but we want as many people as possible to get involved with this crowdsourcing documentary effort. The meeting will begin at 6:00PM at One Main Street in Cambridge (Kendall Square) in the first floor conference room (essentially at the corner of Memorial Drive and the Longfellow Bridge).
